HAMISH MOORE, since the early ’80’s, has been at the forefront of the revival of man of Scotland’s bagpipes which had sadly fallen into disuse. His contribution to this cultural revival has been through hi making, playing, recording, researching, and teaching. The revival of the small pipes, reel pipes and border pipes in Scotland has allowed piping to reconnect not just with the forgotten instruments and their repertoire, but, as importantly, a lost social context freeing them from the proscriptive rules laid down by the British Army and the various official bodies relating to competitions.
