A great evening was had by all at the Bothy Ballads and Burns event held in Portsoy Bowling Club on Saturday. Compere Doug Hay and musical guests Natalie Chalmers and Alan Taylor treated guests to an evening filled with songs of the North East’s Bothy Ballads tradition mixed with verse and songs from Robert Burns. Portsoy’s own 75 Club Choir entertained with songs from Burns’ repetoire. Floor singers Mike Blackburn and Graham Legge, performed works by the Bard and the evening was coordinated and organised superbly by compere Doug Hay. This year’s event was a collaboration between Folk at the Salmon Bothy and Portsoy’s 75 Club. A great success and definitely to be repeated next year!
The event was also the launch of The 15th Haal, Folk at the Salmon Bothy’s annual festival of music song and dance held over the weekend of 30th May – 1st June.
