“Rhythm and voice, the perfect combination” Zitty Mag, Berlin

Co. Down husband and wife duo Fil Campbell and Tom McFarland will be making their first visit to the Bothy Folk Club in Portsoy on the 1st October – their blend of traditional and original songs and great choruses ensure a good evening’s craic.

The couple will also be doing workshops over that weekend – see flyer for details of times and venue. Tom’s bodhran workshop is perfect for beginners and intermediate players and Fil will also be doing a general singing workshop, which is designed to give your voice a good workout whether you’re an absolute beginner or an experienced singer.
“A great mix of traditional and contemporary Irish songs with the expert percussion skills of Tom perfectly complimenting Fil’s exquisite vocals.”
Falkirk Folk Club Feb 15

Fil and Tom are based in Rostrevor in Co.Down, the home of Northern Irish folk music. They have been part of the Irish, British and European folk scene since the early 90s. With the combination of vocals, guitar and percussion they have gained a loyal following for their fun approach to both new and old songs.

Back There, their latest CD was released in July 2015. Featuring both Tom and Fil on vocals, it has been receiving lovely reviews.

Fil says “It’s always fantastic for us to come to Scotland – we love hearing all the great singers at the folk clubs and it will be especially good this trip getting a chance to see Portsoy and that area of the country where we’ve never been before”.
